Sunday ride around the mountain

I planned a ride this Sunday morning with a couple of friends; one of them (J) used to ride more and is very fit but hasn’t done anything much more than a mile commute for a year or so the other (N) is a top end cyclist who lives and breathes cycling, I’m in the middle so it’s a bit of a spread in levels. Bike dilemmas – follow up

So a few days I was battling with my self-inflicted bicycle dilemma of what to do with my bike which is wearing out; you can read it here 

To anyone outside my head, my thought processes may seem strange; my four year old bike is in need of a service so I need to buy a 30 year old one.  But sometimes things in one’s head aren’t always fathomable and that’s where I was/am.

Bike dilemmas

I have had my Motobecane Mirage SL for about 4 years now and I’ve ridden over 5,000 fairly hard miles on it; that’s pretty good for a bike purchased for just under $450 (USD).

I’ve written previously about it here

It’s been very good to me and I can’t really fault it at all.  Now though it’s getting a little old and some significant parts are in need of replacement. Continue reading “Bike dilemmas”

Finally…

At last i am back on the bike.  I stepped out on a chilly Californian morning in glorious sunshine, clipped in to my pedals and headed out.

The breeze hit my face and I was tankful for the extra layer I had put on; it wasn’t freezing it was just enough to make me feel alive and eager to generate my own heat from riding. Continue reading “Finally…”
