Danger! – Weekly Photo Challenge

I took this a while ago on a hike near the Hollywood sign; nearly stepped on it as my eye was stuck to the viewfinder of my camera.  Luckily my daughter was paying attention and alerted me to the little critter.

Photography can be a dangerous pastime.

Photo competition: What is this?

Okay so maybe it’s not quite a competition as there is no prize and I actually don’t know the right answer so ‘winning’ here is me finding out exactly what this is.

I took this last year near Salton Sea; it was in the middle of nowhere and looks a little like some kind of missile though my theory it’s more a drilling rig or something like that.
