Cameras: Miranda Sensorex

I mentioned this a couple of times in recent posts here and here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I have put two films through this camera and it has quickly become a favourite.  I have been eyeing up Mirandas for some time but I didn’t really have what I felt was a justification so not taken the plunge and then I saw this one for $20 and thought “why the hell not?”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It arrived shortly afterwards and although its not the cleanest example it’s in pretty good condition. Continue reading “Cameras: Miranda Sensorex”

Cameras: Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I had no expectation of buying this camera and it is not a camera that I sort out.  In all honesty I almost literally stumbled across it.  I was out for a lunchtime walk with my Pen-F and came across a house running an estate sale.  I am someone who likes to rummage in this kind of thing and see what interesting things I can find.  As I walk in the door the first thing in front of me is a table with a few cameras on it; this one, a 500 DTL and a compact which I can’t now remember.  The condition of this one is excellent (as was the 500) and everything seemed to function.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As I said I had no desire for a Mamiya/Sekor SLR although I have a slight need for a suitable M39 (or M42) body with TTL metering to attach to my macro bellows.  Continue reading “Cameras: Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL”

Cameras: Minolta SRT 101

I got this a long time ago in a job lot of cameras I picked up so it cost me virtually nothing.  It had seen better days as it was quite dirty and the filter mount is bent from a drop (I presume).

It’s been sat in a box for months and I finally got it out and gave it a cleanup. Continue reading “Cameras: Minolta SRT 101”

Cameras: Contax III with Kiev 2.0

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I picked this up a while ago and only recently got around to trying it. Originally I got this as a body only and subsequently bought a Kiev lens just to be able to use it; if I liked it I would think about something more original.  Continue reading “Cameras: Contax III with Kiev 2.0”

Cameras: Ricoh 35 ZF

This camera is similar in operation to the Vitessa 500 in that it is a compact, zone focus viewfinder camera although this allows for full manual control of shutter speed and aperture or the semi-automatic  aperture priority .

It’s slightly more compact and simple look and it doesn’t have any exposure compensation also the batteries are more easily obtained. Continue reading “Cameras: Ricoh 35 ZF”

Cameras: Voigtlander Bessamatic CS with Zoomar lens

Getting this camera was a little painful, I’ve written about that already here

This Voigtlander bessamatic is an early SLR with interchangeable lenses which of course is now the norm.  Back then I guess things were still being worked out and there is a noticeable difference between the functionality of this camera to how more modern SLRs work.

Camera: Voigtlander Vitessa 500 SE electronic

I recently picked up a Voigtlander (Zeiss Ikon) Vitessa 500 SE Electronic; what a great little camera!

I receiving it the first issue was batteries as it needed two PX825 (1.55v) batteries which are no longer available. Continue reading “Camera: Voigtlander Vitessa 500 SE electronic”

Cameras: Pentacon FM and Yashica Auto Yashinon DS 50mm f1.9 lens

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I bought this camera because as I previously mentioned here  I bought an M42 lens in an impulsive moment and needed a body to put it on.  After browsing for a suitable candidate I spotted this which was well under $30.  The seller said there was something wrong with the shutter (a crease in the curtain) but in another moment of impulsiveness I bought it anyway. Continue reading “Cameras: Pentacon FM and Yashica Auto Yashinon DS 50mm f1.9 lens”

Cameras: Voigtlander Vito B

So this is the very camera that started it off for me.  Sure I had used the family 126 Kodak Instamatic on holiday when we were growing up and the first actual camera I owned was a 110 format shop own brand from Boots (those cameras were so cool at the time) but when my father let me have his Voigtlander it took me to the next level. Continue reading “Cameras: Voigtlander Vito B”

Cameras: Yashica Electro 35

I actually have two of these; an older G (pictured above) and a later GSM (below).  The GSM came with a job lot of cameras I bought and is in fully working condition.  The older one is also in good condition but the exposure control doesn’t appear to be quite working Continue reading “Cameras: Yashica Electro 35”

Cameras: Fed-3

This is a Russian made copy of a Leica and even though it is a copy it is very solidly made.   If you want to try out rangefinder style cameras with interchangeable lenses these are a good introduction and have some following in their own right but can still be found pretty cheap. Continue reading “Cameras: Fed-3”

Cameras: Voigtlander Vitomatic

This is my first post first post trying to document my camera collection in a little more detail and I thought I would start with one of my favourites. I am a fan of Voigtlanders and have 5 in my collection.  This was my second one and my first Rangefinder. Continue reading “Cameras: Voigtlander Vitomatic”
