I have moved forward a little with the 3D printing. My laptop was returned from repair, still with the same issue but I can’t be bothered to send it away again.
That meant that I was able to install some software, namely MatterControl from MatterHackers. I chose this for a couple of reasons; firstly, it was recommended to me as a better slicer than the popular CURA from the point of view of the UI, secondly it is free and lastly as well as being a good slicer it is also a full design application too.
