I recently visited Chicago and went up to the 94th floor of the John Hancock building where tourists (like me) can find ‘360 Chicago‘ that allows great views across the city in all directions. It also has a ride of sort called ‘Tilt’ which has a moving section of glass that when you are standing against it tilts out a few feet as if it were going to fall. I didn’t do that part of the attraction just checked out the views.
We were there later in the afternoon so the sun was casting long shadows. I spotted this beach below and liked the angle. I waited to see if someone walked on so I could get a shot. I needed to switch to my other lens which isn’t as nice as the others but gives me the longest focal length (effective 300mm) and I was rewarded when this couple wandered into shot and my steady hand didn’t let me down.

That’s a nice idea. The photo makes you feel really small when you look at it. The world around the couple is so large… Yeah, I like it 🙂

Thank you, I like shots taken from a different angles and this seemed like a good opportunity. The light made this shot work I think, without the shadows it would be too flat.

Actually we have 4 friends coming over from Scotland that we’re meeting up in Chicago then they’re coming down to stay with me for a week over Ne’erday so I might not have time for much photography. I’ll be too busy partying 😉
